グアテマラの山に囲まれた湖、アティトラン湖。その周りに点々と在る、マヤ民族末裔の人々が暮らす小さな村々。女たちは村ごとに異なる柄の伝統の衣装に身を包み、今日も市場へ買い物に出かける。男たちは山で薪を拾い、夕暮れになると家々からはもくもくと煙が上り出す。湖に吹く風は強く少し冷たくて、でもそれが何だか凛とした空気を作っているようで、心地いい。

Along side the mountain lake, Lake Atitlan of Guatemala, there are villages of Mayan descendant. Women in traditional garment with different patterns among villages go to the markets for groceries and men gather firewood in the mountains. At the dawn, I can see the smoke coming out of each houses. The wind is chilly and blowing strong into the lake which makes dignified but comfortable atmosphere.
