「イケメン山のフィッツロイ」

パタゴニアのアルゼンチン側に聳える山、フィッツロイ。その佇まいは美しく、ちょっと不思議で、単純に「格好いい」。山の麓で一週間ほどテントを張りながら、僕らは毎日、惚れ惚れと山を眺めていた。東に雲のないよく晴れた朝、その格好よさは、頂点になる。地平線から昇る太陽に、フィッツロイは山頂から照らされる。そして、上から順番に、時間をかけてオレンジ色に染まっていく。辺りの山々がまだ夜の中、フィッツロイだけがオレンジに浮かび上がるその様子は、「格好いい」を通り越して、神々しい。

Monte Fitz Roy is a prominent mountain located on the Argentinian side of Patagonia. Beautiful, mysterious and simply gorgeous. We spent a week in a tent at the bottom, just gloating over it every day. One fine morning with no clouds on the eastern sky, it reached it's peak. As the sun rose from the horizon, it changed its color in gradation of orange little by little from the top. While everything else still remained in the darkness, the gorgeous mountain stood sacred in front of us.
